Getting Started in Drive Cars Down A Hill

Spawn the free Jalopy 2106, survive the first Dunes drop, and stop wasting cash on every shop toy.

Getting Started

Drive Cars Down A Hill dropped on Roblox on April 19, 2022. Mally’s Studios still runs it as a 25-player physics sandbox, not a quiet single-player lobby. Your first session is about three habits: spawn the free car, keep your hands off Space, and take a Dunes line that actually pays. Cash comes from distance, destruction, and style. A fast, stylish drop beats a pile of parts at spawn even if the pile looks cinematic.

This page is the first-hour checklist. After you can leave the mining-town spawn without ejecting, jump to controls for the full input table, the Dunes walkthrough for section hazards, and the cash farm once Hydrochapter unlocks.

First minutes in a 25-player server

Join any public server. You load into Dunes spawn, an unnamed rural Nevada town that the community treats as Day 1. Other drivers will already be rolling Jalopies, weekly trucks, and wrecks. Ignore the sniper tower turned shooting range until you understand crash survival. Your job is not to win a gunfight. Your job is to get a chassis pointed downhill.

Open the vehicle shop at spawn. Take the Jalopy 2106. It costs $0. Sit in it. WASD accelerates and steers. Move the camera with the mouse on PC. Mobile uses an on-screen stick. Console uses analog. F is the typical enter and exit. Some event cars used Left Shift as a boost; the Jalopy does not need that to finish Start.

Do not press Space. NicoBlox’s session made the rule famous for a reason: Space ejects you from the car. You will watch your Jalopy continue without you, then teleport back to spawn poorer and annoyed. If you need out, use F. If the car is already dead, abandon it and respawn. Full input notes live on the controls page.

Like the game and join the Mally’s Studios group before you even drop. As of September 2026 the codes hub has no live promo strings. The freebies that still work are documented on Like + Join rewards and how to redeem. That is the only “free cash” step worth doing on day one.

Vehicle shop and the free Jalopy

The shop is the whole progression loop. You earn cash on the hill, teleport or walk back, and buy a more expensive chassis. V1 cars used brick-built Roblox parts. V2 cars are 3D crash models with segmented damage, working doors, and suspension that actually bends. The 4Car1Map update moved remaining V1 cars onto V2 internals, so a “classic” name in the menu is not an excuse to drive a brick.

Early prices you will stare at:

  • Jalopy 2106 — $0
  • Crudcrate — $100
  • Gaz-24 Volga — $10,000
  • Lada 2106 — $30,000
  • Suzuk Carrier — $50,000
  • Roadster 1915 — $90,000
  • Caddy — $110,000
  • Harle — $130,000

Do not buy everything. The $100 Crudcrate is a curiosity, not a farm upgrade. The Volga and Lada are the first cars that feel like they belong on Ghosttown ramps. Weekly 125 to 170 MPH trucks look fast in the weekly vehicles post and still fold on a mine. Rabbit is a $1, 38 MPH joke. Save real stacks for cars that finish chapters, then for Hydrochapter loops that fund Contract-class purchases. Rank that choice on the starter vehicles list and the best cars list, not on spawn chat.

You can spawn a purchased car almost anywhere you have unlocked. That is how you recover after a river. It is also how people waste cash testing every toy at the top of Start. Buy one daily driver. Learn it. Then spend.

First Dunes drop

Start is labeled “Once you’ve started, there’s no turnin’ back!” The line is a hill, a river jump, two sniper towers, and the gate into Ghosttown. Landmines and explosive barrels sit off the obvious dirt. Rivers delete underpowered cars. The first sniper tower is an old military outpost that guards the river jump. The second sits on a steep concrete drum and is worse at hitting fast traffic. You do not need the Sniper gamepass. You need a line that does not park in front of someone who has it.

Aim for ramps. Style pays. A near-miss that keeps all four wheels is worth more than a barrel detonation that looks funny and ends the run. If you lose two wheels or the engine lights, teleport. Dragging a wreck through Ghosttown is how new players burn ten minutes for pocket change. The Dunes walkthrough names the later sections, including Overgrowth, The Climb, and the four Dunes sniper towers.

Badges for Dunes, Ghosttown, and Overgrowth sit on this chapter. They are souvenirs, not a reason to ignore mines. If you want a map of every world after Day 1, use maps and chapters. Hydrochapter, Bunk Laps, and North Nevada are later problems. Forest Chapter is deleted.

Why you should not buy everything

The shop is a ladder, not a collection game. A $200,000 Tord-AA 1928, a $250,000 Willys, and a $350,000 Scout Car all exist. So do Coupe at $500,000, Gaz-66 at $700,000, Sand Bruiser FJ45 at $1,000,000, Kuban at $1,300,000, and Daytona Stock Car at $2,500,000. Cougar (250 MPH), Contact (300 MPH), and Raccoon (300 MPH) sit at the $100,000,000 mark. None of those numbers matter if you still eject on Space and farm Dunes for 8,000 at a time.

The legitimate money method is Hydrochapter Depot, described in the cash farm guide and the longer Hydrochapter page. Unlock the chapter, teleport to Depot, take the second-to-the-right path, drive until cash rises about 100,000, teleport back, and repeat. Ten loops is about $1,000,000. Count those loops on the cash planner before you promise yourself a Coupe “after one more run.”

Skip Gravity Coil until you are playing for chaos. The pass disables cash earning. That tradeoff is spelled out in crash survival because it ruins first-session farms more often than mines do.

What to do after the first hour

You have a Jalopy or a cheap V2 daily, a Dunes badge or two, and a group join. Next steps:

  1. Finish a clean Start-to-Ghosttown line without ejecting.
  2. Unlock later Dunes sections only until Hydrochapter is available.
  3. Switch your grinding to Depot loops, not random Dunes tourism.
  4. Buy the next car that survives water and mines, not the next 125 MPH weekly gimmick.
  5. Bookmark updates and latest notes so a Saturday truck does not surprise you.

The guides hub keeps every tutorial in one index. The tier list hub and speed ranking settle arguments about 250 MPH versus a car that still has wheels at the dam. The vehicle roster and gamepasses pages list names without spawn myths. If you insist on automation, read how to execute on the scripts hub instead of pasting random chat strings.

Your first hour is not about owning a 250 MPH toy. It is about leaving spawn in the Jalopy, keeping Space unused, and converting one Dunes drop into a plan for Hydrochapter cash instead of a pile of Crudcrates.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for downhill runs, cash, and cars.

What car do I start with?

The Jalopy 2106 is free in the spawn shop. Do not spend your first cash on the $100 Crudcrate. See the starter ranking before the Volga or Lada.

Why do I keep flying out of the car?

Space ejects you. NicoBlox hit the same bind. Use WASD to drive and F to enter or exit. Full table: controls.

Are there codes for new players?

Not as of September 2026. Check codes and claim group rewards instead of waiting on a promo string.

Should I buy every shop car I can afford?

No. Early cash belongs on a stable daily, then on Hydrochapter loops toward expensive targets like Contract. Plan purchases with the cash planner.

When do I leave Dunes?

After you can survive Start and Ghosttown, push only as far as you need to unlock Hydrochapter. Then follow the cash farm instead of grinding the whole Day 1 hill for hours.

Is this a solo game?

No. Servers hold up to 25 players. Other drivers, snipers, and wrecks are part of the first drop. Read crash survival for how to share a hill without turning it into a clan war.
